Music

In this section of Shopart are grouped the pictures that have as their subject the music or musical instruments. Artists of all ages have always portrayed in their paintings, mosaics, frescos and tables musicians intent on playing an instrument or musical scores. Caravaggio in the painting Rest from the flight into Egypt portrays an angel with a violin and bow that plays a melody from a score held in the hands of Joseph. Well, the notes of this musical score have been identified by the scholars as a motif of the Flemish composer Noel Bauldewijn, based on the text of the Song of Songs and entitled "Quam pulchra es". The passion of Merisi for music is also visible in another of his famous opera the "Lute player" kept at the Metropolitan in New York. The canvas depicts a musician intent on reproducing the score of a madrigal by Francesco de Layolle entitled "Lassare il velo". In our century artists such as Paul Klee and Vasilij Kandinskij have tried to give a visually emotional meaning to music, translating the emotions arising from the notes into color and shapes. In Shopart there are numerous prints on canvas, posters and prints on wood panel of subjects and author's photographs suitable for home, office and commercial environments in general.
