The embrace - Klimt Gustav

The Tree of Life is a work of the Artist Gustave Klimt prepared to decorate the dining room of the Stoclet Palace. The work as we know it today consists of a series of cartoons where the artist has sketched what was then created as a mosaic on the wall. The project for the tree of life and the stoclet frieze was a work of the years 1905-1909 and represents the evolution of Klimt's art, where decoration prevails over the sense of classic three-dimensionality. On the right of the painting is Il Compimento, better known as the embrace in which the two figures of man and woman enjoy the intimate moment of the embrace. Even in this case the anatomy of the two figures we know nothing because they are completely covered by the man's dress, richly decorated with geometric motifs. The cartoons made by Klimt present various annotations and written as a reminder for the definitive work.
